Amy's Testimonial

Hi, my name is Amy, and I'd like to tell a little bit of a story about Karen and (Curated Transitions, formerly) Klutter Kutters and just express my gratitude to her for stepping in during a very difficult time in my life and in my mom's life. So, three years ago my father died of Lewy Body Dementia, after my mom and dad had been married for 57 years and had dated since they were 13 and 14 years old. So you can imagine how hard it was for my mom, of course, to let go. My mom lived in a fairly large home in Santa Barbara, California and I live in the San Francisco Bay area. So it was very difficult for me to be able to help my mom figure out what to do with her home. Well, after about a year, we decided that we would sell the home and move my mom to be closer to me. And I had no idea how I was going to maneuver all of the moving and cleaning of the stuff. My mom had clutter - a beautiful home! But tucked behind all of those closets and in all of those drawers was a lot of stuff from years and years of marriage and children and grandchildren and things like that. And Karen was recommended by our realtor, and she came in and took charge. And it was hard, my mom , it was very difficult. My mom had a hard time letting go. And she had a lot of clothing, and memorabilia, and books and books, and dishes. And you name it, she had it. And Karen just stuck with it, and talked with my mom, and listened, and got things arranged and was very methodical, and kept me posted as things progressed. She helped arrange the movers, and she went so far as to actually drive my mom from Santa Barbara to the San Francisco Bay area on her moving day when we moved her here up north to move into a residential living, assisted living location. And Karen was incredibly organized, and communicative and firm, with a beautiful heart. So it's a great combination of characteristics that she has, and I have no hesitation in recommending her if you have a need for something like this, for decluttering and especially if you have parents that need some help. My mom is now 80, she was about 78 when she was going through this. And I really am eternally grateful. I don't know how I would have done it without her, so thank you to Karen and her ability to move mountains. Thank you.

Charlie's Testimonial

Hello, my name is Charlie George. I am in Littleton, Colorado. About last May, my stepfather died, and my mom who lives in Santa Barbara was 80 years old, and we had to relocate her from Santa Barbara to Littleton Colorado. Again, my mom is 80, she has no strength. She has a ton of stuff, was very poorly organized, and to make matters worse, she has a lot of memory issues, so she can't really keep track of the details. So Karen was referred to me by the retirement village that my mom was moving into. From the start, she did a great job for us and I'm going to read from this because I want to be sure I cover everything: First and foremost, she made my mom feel comfortable. She treated her with kindness and respect. Quite honestly, even when she probably didn't deserve that the whole time because she, you know, she gets a little crabby sometimes. She helped pack, she helped get rid of the stuff that my mom no longer needed. She contacted moving companies, got quotes, compared the quotes, and made a recommendation. She worked with my mom through the entire process. She was even there the day the movers arrived, helped coordinate everything, and made sure everything was out the door. And even went so far as to have her cleaning crew there to make sure the apartment was spic and span after she left, and met all inspections. So I really recommend Karen and (Curated Transitions, formerly) Klutter Klutters, they did a great job for us. I have no complaints in any way, shape, or form. Really, really did a nice job so I hope that helps and I hope it worked out. Thank you.

I recommend Karen Marin and her company Curated Transitions (previously known as Klutter Kutters) very highly. I have many positive comments and no negative ones about their work.

In early 2022, I engaged Karen Marin and her team to organize and facilitate my move from a large house, in which I had lived for 45 years, to a two-bedroom apartment. I had tried for several months to manage the down-sizing on my own, but I found the tasks of deciding and discarding impossible. The stress was enormous. I finally admitted that I needed help – a lot of help. Fortunately Karen and her team were available to help.

We spent quite a few days deciding what to take with me to my new, and smaller, home, what to donate to charity, and what to discard. It was for me a very painful process because I wanted to keep everything. Karen and her team were very kind and considerate, but also firm about reminding me that I could not take everything with me, and knowledgeable about what I would, or what I would not need in my new home. Karen also arranged for a charitable organization to come and take the items, including large furniture, that I was willing to give up.

Before I made any final decisions about the furniture, the team went to my new apartment, took careful measurements, and offered valuable suggestions about what I could take with me. These people are “pros” at floor plans and room decor. I was elated to learn that I could take more furniture and paintings than I had expected to. I could never have figured that out on my own. It has been such a comfort to have much of my old “stuff” with me.

The final phase of the relocation was the move. Karen made the arrangements with a good moving company who transported my belongings safely to my new home and, under the careful supervision of Karen and her team, put everything in place. The team arranged the furniture, hung the clothes, and put household items in appropriate drawers and closets. Had I tried to that on my own – well, I would probably still be trying to unpack.

Connecting with Karen is one of the best decisions I have ever made. She and her team are knowledgeable, efficient, trustworthy, and reasonably priced. They are also sympathetic to the anxiety that down-sizing causes. It was a pleasure working with them.
